FAQs

How can I get a quote on an order?

Great question! To ensure an accurate quote, please refer to our ORDER tab for instructions on how to order

Where are you located? Do you have a shopfront that I can visit?

We are located in Vallejo, California, USA. We will have a shopfront in the future, but we do not have one at this time.

Are you licensed to operate a home-based dessert studio?

Yes! We are licensed to operate under Cottage Food Operations, and all items in our menu are approved by Solano County.  Additionally, we have Food Handling and Safety Certification. We can provide cake and desserts in any venue, such as hotels or formal halls, that require licensed vendors to provide such service.

How long in advanced should I place my order?

We can be quite busy, so to avoid missing out we recommend placing your order at least 4 weeks prior to the date of your event. If it is placed any later, we can't guarantee that we will be able to accommodate your request.

Do you require any payment when we place an order?

Yes! Unfortunately, in the business world, we can experience no-shows. To avoid us being left out-of-pocket, we require a non-refundable 50% deposit on all orders. Once the deposit is made, your order is secured and you are sure to have great-looking, great tasting cake on your event. Keep in mind that the cake needs to be fully paid one week before the order date.

Is my order guaranteed?

Not quite! You order is not secure until you receive an invoice and make a non-refundable 50% deposit. Once you have sent your details, we will contact you within 3-5 days to discuss the details. If you are happy, we will then send you an invoice and the deposit can then be made to secure your order. Keep in mind, if you have not placed an order at least 4 weeks prior to the event date, we cannot guarantee availability for your order.

What modes of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, check, Venmo or Chase Quickpay.

I have an image of the design I want. Can I send you that image and you replicate it?

At Elle Cake Studio, we do not copy others work, however, you may send us a photo to use as inspiration! We truly pride ourselves in designing our own cakes and desserts and giving you an amazing cake that is unique to you, your loved ones and your special event.

Can we have a cake tasting?

At the moment, we only provide cake tasting for weddings and big events with orders over $500. We provide boxes with six cake samples in cupcake form for a fee of $45. If you so choose to book us for your cake needs, we will subtract the tasting fee from the total cake service fee.

What ingredients do you use in your cakes?

Depending on the cake you order, you can expect to find some of the following superior quality ingredients in your cake:

  • Guittard or Vahlrona Cocoa Powder

  • Callebaut or Guittard White Chocolate

  • Byhaute Chocolate Pearls

  • Sweetapolita or Fancy Sprinkles

  • Pretty Produce Edible Blooms

  • King Arthur Espresso and Chef Rubber Real Fruit Powder

Additionally, we make our own edible toppers including but not limited to macarons, meringues, sugar cookies, mini doughnuts, sugarwork, tempered chocolate, etc.

Do you offer dietary-restricicted cakes?

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer sugar-free, dairy-free, gluten-free and nut-free cakes.  We have a very small kitchen and all of our equipment has at some point come in to contact with these foods.

Can my florist or I put flowers on the cake?

No.  The signature Elle Cake Studio style includes the unique way we incorporate fresh blooms on your cake.  As the cake is edible, we are responsible for ensuring it is safe to eat and free from contamination.  This is a responsibility we take very seriously.  Additionally, we would advise against placing blooms on the cake yourself as fresh blooms must be prepared correctly in order to prevent contamination of the cake.

Can I collect my cake? If so, what is the proper way to transport it?

Depending on the size of your cake, yes you can.  Single tier and two-tier cakes are available for collection at a pre-organised appointment time.  The time is usually confirmed one week prior to the collection day and is subject to availability.  It is important that your cake has somewhere flat to rest like the floor in front of the passenger seat or the boot of the car. More importantly, the air conditioner must be turned already and the inside of the car must already be cold at the time of pick up to ensure a proper environment for the cake. Absolutely no swerving, sharp turns or sudden brakes. Slow your speed down and, if needs be, turn on "hazard" to ensure safety transport of cake. Elle Cake Studio does not accept responsibility for collected cakes damaged in transit.

Can you deliver my cake?

Delivery is available to most areas including in and around Solano, Napa and surrounding areas for an additional fee, starting at $10 plus miles to cover.  Please include details of your venue or the delivery address if you would like us to include this pricing in your quote.  All cakes three tiers and larger will require on site construction and are unable to be collected.  Delivery farther than 50 miles from our location  are also available however do incur additional delivery charges due to the time it takes to travel such a long distance.
